Fantasy Football Update - Transfer Window Special

What a time to be alive... It was a record breaking January deadline day as Premier League clubs spent £150 million on last minute deals, to bring overall expenditure during the window to £430 million. With Jim White superbly steering the ship as always on Sky Sports News, we were kept up to date on matters ranging from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's pass completion rate in the 2012/13 season, to how it has always been the dream of Gerard Deulofeu to sign on loan for Watford.

What's that you say Jim? Bryan Swanson has breaking news on the details of Alexis Sanchez's new contract at Manchester United? Ah go on then... Okay, so £350,000 a week after tax might seem lavish, but please spare a thought for the Chilean. Just think, it would take Sanchez 286 weeks to save enough money for the £100 million we each spend on our Fantasy Premier League teams. There is always someone worse off than you...

CURRENT LEADER

HRH17 CF

Manager - Hasrul Rasyid

Gameweek Points - 57

Overall Points - 1,583

Something we also take for granted as Fantasy Football managers is continuously being able to make transfers and therefore not having to wait for the window to open to replace under performing players. Hasrul has certainly taken advantage of this feature in his rise to the top of the FSM Superliga and the shrewd addition of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in gameweek 26 ensures that HRH17 CF maintain a healthy lead over XhakaLaca in second place. Whether Hasrul was leaning out of his 4x4 when confirming the signing of the Armenian is debatable, but the quality that 'Micki' possesses was not to be questioned as he assisted in three of Arsenal's goals during their demolition of Everton. However, it should come as no surprise that the star of the week was once again Mo Salah, whose brace against Spurs earned HRH17 CF a handy 15 points. Well done Hasrul, give the rest of us a chance why don't you?!

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Arsenal

Manager - Shi Lu

Gameweek Points - 77

Overall Points - 1,288

Whilst Arsene Wenger's Arsenal were taking Everton apart in the real world, Shi Lu's version were just as emphatic as they recorded a whopping 77 points in gameweek 26. Handing Mo Salah the armband proved a wise decision, but perhaps the difference was made in the selection of budget-priced midfielders Pascal Gross and Abdoulaye Doucoure. The former played out of his skin in Brighton's commanding victory over West Ham United with a goal and an assist, whilst the latter was highly instrumental in setting up two of Watford's goals against Chelsea. If you're looking for a bargain buy which won't break the bank, I suggest you look no further than these two. Elsewhere, there was a goal for Jamie Vardy and a clean sheet for David de Gea, to complete a dream weekend for all things Arsenal. Currently sat low down in the FSM Superliga, it is unlikely that Shi Lu will even finish fourth, but with more performances like this, will he be the man to replace Arsene Wenger?
