Fantasy Football Update - October

It's that time of year again... one moment we're weighing up whether 'treat' is an appropriate response to the oversized guy in a scream mask, whose gravelly voice suggests he's far too old to still be engaging in Halloween festivities. The next, we're lighting bonfires and setting off fireworks in order to commemorate a chap who failed to blow up the Houses of Parliament. What's the moral of all this you ask? Well to put it bluntly, you can be a failure and still be rewarded/celebrated, which is the logic I apply to my fantasy team on a weekly basis.

Now we've got that valuable life lesson out of the way, we can turn our focus to the main talking points from the last month, of which there's only one place to start. With a five point lead at the top of the table, Manchester City look a class apart and have officially made the best start in Premier League history. Numerous opposition have been dismantled in the process - the 7-2 thrashing of Stoke proving a horror show for any managers with Jack Butland in goal. And while a 'full moon' is said to bring out the beast in us, it's the 'blue moon' anthem which is inspiring City's players to put in supernatural performances.

CURRENT LEADER

Gana fc

Manager - Jayvish Sammalia

Gameweek Points - 60

Overall Points - 609

Gana fc have now made it three weeks at number one, as a solid gameweek score of 60 was more than enough to cement top spot. Jayvish has spent his money wisely - none of the back four break the bank - which has allowed him to select the likes of David Silva, Eden Hazard, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Gabriel Jesus in attack. However, it was his defenders who really shone this week with Ben Mee especially impressive as Burnley notched up a victory and a clean sheet against Newcastle. A captain's performance from Hazard was the icing on the cake and the Belgian will be key to ensuring that Jayvish stays clear of the chasing pack.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Bhayangkara FC

Manager - Kapolres Mamuju

Gameweek Points - 79

Overall Points - 582

There was simply no stopping Kapolres in gameweek 10 and when you look at his team, it's easy to see why he was top point scorer. With goals coming from all over the pitch and a watertight defence, Bhayangkara FC racked up an impressive 79 points to soar up to fifth in the FSM Superliga. Sead Kolasinac was the standout performer and the new fans' favourite at Arsenal did no harm to his reputation by scoring his maiden Premier League goal as well as providing an assist. Can Kapolres keep this explosive run going and apply more pressure on the leaders? Who knows... the only thing to expect this weekend is fireworks.
