Home short sleeve shirt as worn during the 2019/20 EPL season by Scott McTominay. As a graduate of the Manchester United youth academy, he has been associated with the club since the age of five after attending their development centre in Preston. Known for his leadership, energy and physical presence in midfield, there was a time when United's youth team coaches had their doubts over whether he could make the grade at the top level. At the start of 2015, an 18-year-old McTominay was only 5ft 6ins and was deemed too small, but within two years he experienced a major growth spurt and now stands at 6ft 4ins. He made his senior debut for Manchester United in May 2017 and has now established himself as a regular in the starting XI, with 2019/20 proving his most successful season yet. In all competitions, he scored 5 goals in 37 appearances - the highlight being his 40 yard strike into an empty net in the Manchester Derby, which secured a 2-0 victory. Despite being born in England, McTominay chose to represent Scotland after qualifying through his Scottish-born father.
This Adidas home shirt comes in the club's traditional red colours and draws heavy inspiration from the 1998/99 Treble winning season. The club badge is coloured black and gold and features a dark exterior background - a design similar to the 1999 Champions League Winners shirt. Additional cues to the famous '99 final are featured on the sleeves, where the minutes of the goals scored against Bayern Munich are printed inside small black boxes '90+1' and '90+3'. The shirt is completed by a black trim on the neck and also the three Adidas stripes on the shoulder, which are subtle in that they are a slightly darker shade of red than the rest of the shirt.
