The Merseyside born fullback began his career with Wigan Athletic in 2002 in the old Second Division and helped the Latics to two promotions as they reached the Premier League in 2005. The following season, Baines appeared for Wigan Athletic in the 2006 Carling Cup Final, as they were beaten 4-0 by a Manchester United side containing Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. After leaving Wigan in 2007, Baines would establish himself as an Everton legend, staying at the Toffees until his retirement in 2020.
